Climate and Geography: Santa Marta is located on the Caribbean Coast, on the western edge of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, and has an average temperature of 27 °C, tropical dry climate with natural deep bays and dry weather from December to April with the presence of the trade winds; the rainy season is from June to October. The city has dry forest ecosystems and tropical humid forest at close distance, having this geographic variety, is of great attraction for tourism and commerce.

Covering an area of 24,188 km² Magdalena department has all climatic zones and a varied geography: The Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta is 5775 meters above sea level mountain range, permanent snow and its many fountains, Its tropical dry forest ecosystems, such as its capital Santa Marta, the Magdalena River, with tropical humid forests and multiple swamps.
